Abstract

วัดกำแพงแสนและเมืองโบราณกำแพงแสน นั้นมีความสัมพันธ์กันกับชุมชน ทั้งด้านกายภาพ ทางสังคมและวัมนธรรม โดยที่วัดกำแพงแสนนั้นเป็นจุดเชื่อมโยงเรื่องราวระหว่างอารยธรรมทวารวดีในอดีตกับสังคมชุมชนปัจจุบัน หรือจะกล่าวอีกนัยได้ว่า วัดกำแพงแสนเป็นพื้นที่ ที่เป็นศูนย์กลางแห่งการเรียนรู้วัฒนธรรมทวารวดีของเมืองโบราณกำแพงแสน รวมทั้งพระพุทธศาสนา ซึ่งเป็นภาพสะท้อนของชุมชนในลักษณะของเหตุการณ์ที่สัมพันธ์กันไปในมิติของเวลาอันยาวนานของวัฒนธรรมทวารวดี ทำให้ชุมชนเข้าใจความเป็นตัวเองชัดเจนขึ้น ในการสร้างสรรค์การออกแบบวัดกำแพงแสนนั้น ได้เกิดจากการศึกษาหลักฐานทาง โบราณวัตถุที่พบในเมืองโบราณกำแพงแสนเป็นสำคัญและความเกี่ยวเนื่องทางวัมนธรรมในอดีตธรรมจักรนั้น นับเป็นเอกลักษณ์ทางโบราณวัตถุที่สำคัญยิ่งในวัฒนธรรมทวารวดี ที่มีความโดดเด่นและพบในวัฒนธรรมศิลปะทวารวดี จึงได้เกิดการวิเคราะห์และนำมาเป็นแนวความคิดนำสู่การเชื่อมโยงเรื่องราวในอดีตกับวัฒนธรรมชุมชนในปัจจุบัน สร้างลำดับการรับรู้ที่ต่อเนื่องเป็นเรื่งเดียวกันที่สัมพันธ์กับบริบทและมิติทางประวัติศาสตร์เมืองโบราณกำแพงแสน เชื่อมโยงวิถีชุมชนเดิมเข้ากับที่ว่างทางสถาปัตยกรรมที่สร้างขึ้นภายใต้วัฒนธรรม กิจกรรม ความเชื่อเดิม ด้วยการสร้างกระบวนการเรียนที่ก่อให้เกิดปัญญาตามหลักพระพุทธศาสนาเป็นวัตถุประสงค์หลัก ในการสร้างสรรค์ ด้วยการสื่อความหมายจากแนวคิดผ่านระบบสัญลักษณ์จากคติของธรรมจักรซึ่งเป็นเป้าหมายหลักของการออกแบบวัดกำแพงแสน โดยจากแปรแนวคิดทางนามธรรมเป็นรูปธรรม ผ่านระบบสัญลักษณทางสถาปัตยกรรม ที่ทำหน้าที่เป็นทั้งรูปธรรมและนามธรรม จากประเด็นดังกล่าวในข้างต้นนี้เอง จึงได้เลือกวัดกำแพงแสนเพื่อทำการศึกษาการออกแบบวัดเชิงทดลองที่สัมพันธ์กับชุมชนเมืองโบราณกำแพงแสนและยุคสมัยแห่งปัจจุบันที่กำลังมุ่งไปสู้อนาคต
