เครื่องประดับสัจธรรมร่วมสมัย : สภาวะการผันแปรของดิน

Abstract

การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ 1) สร้างสรรค์เครื่องประดับร่วมสมัยที่เป็นสื่อกลางให้ ผู้สวมใส่และผู้ชมได้มีส่วนร่วมในชิ้นงานที่สะท้อนให้เห็นถึงการยึดติด การให้ความสำคัญต่อมูลค่าของ วัสดุที่พบในสังคมสมัยใหม่นั้นโดยแสดงผ่านสภาวะการผันแปรของดิน ซึ่งสุดท้ายแล้ววัสดุเหล่านั้น ต้องมีการผันแปรเสื่อมสลายกลับคืนสู่ธรรมชาติ อันเป็นสัจธรรมความจริงของโลก 2) ศึกษาเกี่ยวกับ ดิน และสภาวะการผันแปรของดินในรูปแบบต่าง ๆ ที่สื่อความถึงการเสื่อมสลาย เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัย มีดังนี้ ส่วนที่ 1 คือ ศึกษาข้อมูลทุติยภูมิ (Secondary Data) จากหนังสือประวัติศาสตร์เครื่องประดับ และข้อมูลปฐมภูมิ (Primary Data) ด้วยวิธีการสัมภาษณ์ เพื่อทำ การวิเคราะห์เกี่ยวกับรูปแบบของเครื่องประดับที่ได้รับความนิยม และการบริโภค เครื่องประดับในปัจจุบัน เพื่อนำไปใช้เป็นแนวทางในการออกแบบ และส่วนที่ 2 คือ การทำการ ทดลอง ได้แก่ การทดลองชุบหรือทาน้ำดินชนิดต่าง ๆ บนชิ้นส่วนขนาดเล็กหลากหลายรูปแบบ เพื่อให้ได้รูปแบบสภาวะการผันแปรของดินที่สื่อถึงการเสื่อมสลาย ผลการวิจัย พบว่า การใช้น้ำดินเบนโทไนท์ (Bentonite) ทาลงบนดินคอมพาวด์ (Compound) เป็นรูปแบบและวิธีการที่รองรับการสร้างสรรค์ผลงานเครื่องประดับสัจธรรมร่วมสมัย ชุดนี้ โดยใช้รูปลักษณ์ของเครื่องประดับแบบประเพณีนิยมเป็นสื่อสะท้อนแนวความคิดเกี่ยวกับการยึด ติดในวัสดุทางเครื่องประดับ มีการแทนค่าอัญมณีด้วยดินและเทคนิคที่คิดค้นขึ้นซึ่งมีพื้นฐานมาจาก เทคนิคเอนโกบของเครื่องปั้นดินเผาแสดงให้เห็นถึงสภาวะการผันแปรเสื่อมสลาย จากรอยแตกของ การหดตัวที่ไม่เท่ากันของเนื้อดินเบนโทไนท์ และคอมพาวด์ ซึ่งจะเกิดการหลุดร่อนสลายไปในช่วง ระยะเวลาหนึ่ง The objective of this research is 1.) to create a contemporary jewelry project that invites both the wearer and the spectator to interact—becoming part of the experience and witness of the alteration of the clay jewelry. This project explores our attachment to material possessions, our increased valuation towards precious materials found in modern society; it aims to illustrate the weathering, alteration and the eventual breakdown of materials back to nature. It is one of the truth in world, that everything is transitory. 2.) to study and make an experiment with clay as a material considering the alteration process as a metaphor for impermanence. The research methodology involved in this project consists of two parts. Firstly, the study secondary data from the jewelry history books and the primary data that was conducted by the interviews; this research data comprises of studies of popular jewelry pieces and consumer market research in today jewelry industry. This data was gathered as a guideline and is used in the design process of the jewelry. Secondly, findings from the experimentation with materials—which involves making clay in different shapes and sizes, then coat them with a variety types of slips; this process is done so that an ideal appearance could be found that best evoke the sense of gradual breakdown and decay. The result of the study have found that by coating Bentonite slip on Compound clay, the desired appearance can be best achieved. By crafting the piece in such a way that is reminiscent of traditional jewelry, it can act as a metaphor for our attachment to precious materials. The substitution of precious material with clay, and the fractured surface of the jewelry caused by the inconsistency and shrinkage between Compound clay and Bentonite coating—which will crumble and decay over time, further demonstrate the eventual breakdown and the decay of matter.
