อักษรฝักขามที่พบในศิลาจารึกภาคเหนือ

Abstract

การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีจุดมุ่งหมายเพื่อศึกษาประวัติความเป็นมา อักขรวิทยา และอักขรวิธีของอักษรฝักขามที่พบในศิลาจารึกใน 8 จังหวัดทางภาคเหนือของประเทศไทยได้แก่ จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ ลำพูน เชียงราย พะเยา ลำปาง แพร่ น่าน และแม่ฮ่องสอน ผลการวิจัยสรุปได้ว่า อักษรฝักขามปรากฏใช้ตั้งแต่ปี พ.ศ. 1954 – พ.ศ. 2158 แล้วพบใช้อีกใน พ.ศ. 2339 – พ.ศ. 2370 อักษรฝักขามวิวัฒนาการมาจากอักษรไทยสุโขทัยสมัยพระมหาธรรมราชาที่ 1 (ลิไทย) และอักษรธรรมล้านนา อักษรฝักขามประกอบด้วยพยัญชนะ 41 รูป สระ 22 รูป ตัวเลข 10 รูป และรูปเครื่องหมายอีก 6 ประเภท การประกอบรูปคำในจารึกอักษรฝักขามมีรูปพยัญชนะต้นเป็นส่วนประกอบที่สำคัญ ส่วนรูปพยัญชนะตัวสะกด รูปสระ และรูปเครื่องหมายต่าง ๆ จะใช้เฉพาะส่วนใดส่วนหนึ่งหรือทั้ง 3 ส่วนในการประกอบรูปคำร่วมกับรูปพยัญชนะต้น สรุปได้ว่า อักษรฝักขามมีวิวัฒนาการน้อยและมีรูปแบบและอักขรวิธีที่คล้ายคลึงกับอักษรไทยปัจจุบัน

The purpose of this thesis is to study the origin, palaeography and orthography of the Fakkham scripts found in Northern Thai inscriptions in 8 provinces : Chiangmai, Lampun, Chiangrai, Payau, Lampang, Prae, Nan and Maehongson. From the study, it is found that the Fakkham scripts was used during 1411 – 1615 and 1796 – 1827 A.D. The scripts were developed from Sukhothai Scripts (which used in the period of King Mahadammaraja I) and Dammalanna Scripts. The Fakkham Scripts had 41 consonants, 22 vowels, 10 numbers and 6 kinds of diacritics. To form a word in the Fakkham inscriptions an initial consonant is the most important. Then either a final consonant, or a vowel or a discritic or all of them may be used with initial consonant. An unobvious evolution is found in the characters and orthography of the Fakkham Scripts. They are quite similar to the modern Thai alphabets.
