Abstract

มนุษย์อาจเป็นสิ่งมีชีวิตเดียวที่ตั้งคาถามต่อสิ่งรอบตัว มีความต้องการท้าทายเอาชนะธรรมชาติอยู่เสมอ ความสงสัยในแสงสว่างได้ผลักดันให้มนุษย์ศึกษาจนสามารถค้นพบความจริงที่อยู่ในธรรมชาติผ่านวิทยาศาสตร์ สร้างสรรค์นวัตกรรมต่างๆ พัฒนาการรับรู้ สร้างภาพที่มีความลึกเหมือนจริงผ่านงานจิตรกรรม ภาพถ่าย เรื่อยมาจนถึงภาพเคลื่อนไหว แสงสว่างจึงมีนัยยะถึงความจริงแท้ ความบริสุทธิ์ พัฒนาการความก้าวหน้าของมนุษย์ การสร้างสรรค์การรับรู้ ทาให้เกิดภาพ เห็นถึงความเป็นสีสันและรายละเอียดของสิ่งรอบตัว หากแต่แสงที่สว่างรุนแรงมากเกินไป ได้เป็นสิ่งที่ทาลายการรับรู้หรือภาพของสิ่งต่างๆจนเหลือเพียงความว่างเปล่าสีขาว เมื่อแสงมีความหมายต่างไปจากเดิมแล้ว เราจะยังคงเรียกสิ่งนั้นว่าแสงเหมือนเดิมได้หรือไม่ หรือหากสีขาวในงานจิตรกรรมมีความหมายและกรรมวิธีการสร้างแตกต่างออกไปจากที่เคยรับรู้ เราจะนิยามสีขาวว่าอะไร ผลงานชุดนี้จึงเป็นการมุ่งหาความเป็นไปได้ในการเปลี่ยนแปลงความหมายของสีขาวและแสงในงานจิตรกรรม โดยใช้สาระจากกระบวนการสร้างงานทางจิตรกรรมเพื่อกระตุ้นการตีความ และสื่อความหมาย ให้เชื่อมโยงกับประเด็นที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการเปลี่ยนแปลงการรับรู้และการพัฒนาทางวิทยาศาสตร์ที่กลับส่งผลทาให้ลดทอนหรือทาลายความเป็นมนุษย์

Human may be the sole being that questions its surroundings, and always wants to challenge the nature. The curiosity about light propels humans to study this issue until they manage to discover the truth hidden in nature by means of science, creating several inventions, developing perceptions, and devising images that possess realistic depth through painting, photography, onward to motion picture. Hence, light implies truth and purity. It also develops human progress, creates perceptions, and induces images which enable us to see the colourfulness and details of our surroundings. But if light is too bright, it will destroy the perception until what remains is bleached vacancy. When the meaning of ‘light’ changes, can we still call it ‘light’ per se? If the colour of white in painting had its meaning and creation process that were different from what we knew, how would we define the white color? This project aims to seek the possibilities of altering the meanings of ‘white’ and ‘light’ in painting by using the essence of creation process to stimulate alternative interpretations and relating the conveyed meanings to the issues of changing perception and scientific development, which, on the other hand, ironically degrade or destruct humanity.
