การดูแลอาคารประวัติศาสตร์ : สำหรับเจ้าของ

Abstract

วิทยานิพนธ์ฉบับนี้มุ่งศึกษาที่มาและลักษณะอาคารประวัติศาสตร์ย่านถนนนครใน ถนนนครนอก ตำบลบ่อยาง อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดสงขลา ซึ่งยังมีผู้อาศัยและใช้งานอาคารนี้อยู่เป็นจำนวนมาก ผู้ศึกษาขอนิยามอาคารประวัติศาสตร์เหล่านี้ว่า “ทรัพยากรวัฒนธรรมที่ยังมีลมหายใจ” (Living Cultural Resources) และนำไปสู่การจัดทำคู่มือดูแลอาคารประวัติศาสตร์ที่เจ้าของสามารถนำไปใช้เองได้อย่างสะดวก แม้ว่าจะไม่มีความรู้ด้านวิศวกรรม ผลการศึกษาพบว่า องค์ประกอบของสถาปัตยกรรมหรืออาคารประวัติศาสตร์ที่มีความเสียหายสูงและควรได้รับการดูแลอย่างทันที นั่นคือผนังอาคารซึ่งประกอบด้วยอิฐ ปูนฉาบและสี เราเห็นอาคารเหล่านั้นมีอายุเกิน 100 ปี ผนังอาคารจะหลุดร่อนทั้งสีและปูนฉาบ โดยมากสาเหตุมาจากการได้รับความชื้นจากน้ำกัดเซาะมาเป็นเวลานาน ลำดับถัดมาของความเสียหายเป็นกระเบื้องมุงหลังคา ซึ่งเป็นกระเบื้องจีนโบราณ เรียกว่า “กระเบื้องกาบกล้วย” ซึ่งยากต่อการหากระเบื้องแบบดั้งเดิมมาซ่อมแซม เจ้าของอาคารจึงนิยมเปลี่ยนเป็นกระเบื้องลอนคู่ซึ่งเป็นวัสดุสมัยใหม่ ส่งผลให้ลดคุณค่าด้านความเดิมแท้ของอาคารลงอย่างเห็นได้ชัด ผู้ศึกษาจึงจัดทำคู่มือดูแลอาคารประวัติศาสตร์สำหรับเจ้าของ ซึ่งทดลองใช้โดยเจ้าของอาคารมีความคลาดเคลื่อนจากที่ผู้ศึกษาตรวจเช็คเพียงแค่ไม่เกินร้อยละ 30 จึงพิสูจน์ได้ว่าคู่มือฉบับนี้สามารถใช้งานได้จริง

The aim of this thesis is to study and synthesize the characteristic of the historic buildings around NakornNai and NakornNok Road district in Songkhla Province. This is because these prestigious buildings are high in value in terms of both cultural and architectural. Therefore is worth to preserve them. Nevertheless, there is still vast number of residents occupying these old buildings which makes it difficult for the related government department to involve in such maintenance particularly the building’s structure. Due to the fact stated above, the author would like to describe there historic buildings as “Living Cultural Resources” which inspired the author to the production of building’s maintenance manual for owners. This building maintenance handbook will be written to be user-friendly and easy to understand for owners especially for those who have no structural engineering knowledge as their background. With this handbook, the owners are capable of looking after their historic building conveniently by their own. From the inspection of typical historic buildings, the owner should pay immediate attention to the building wall, which comprise of brick wall plastered and painted, since the damage in this component is found to be most severe particularly in historic buildings with age over 100 years. Furthermore, it is clear that the problem of this building wall is due to the humidity from the water. The next focus area for maintenance is roofing finish so-called traditional Chinese terracotta. This type of roofing material is very difficult to find for the replacement of old one if repair is needed. As a consequence, the owners who were facing this problem normally replace the old roof material that came with the building to Asbestos cement corrugated roofing which is cheap and easier to find in the market, causing the depreciation of these historic buildings. The author strongly that this handbook will be served as the solution to ensure that the most suitable maintenance method for historic building is introduced to the owner beforehand. This handbook has been user-tested by selected historic buildings’ owners and has been proved to be useful.
