การศึกษาลายหน้ากาลบนทับหลังแบบเขมรในภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือของไทย

Abstract

การศึกษาลายหน้ากาลบนทับหลังแบบเขมรในภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือของไทยเป็นการศึกษาเฉพาะแห่ง คือ ทับหลังที่ปรากฏลายหน้ากาลซึ่งจัดแสดงไว้ในหน่วยศิลปากรที่ 6 พิมาย ทับหลังจากปราสาทหินพิมาย ปราสาทเขาพนมรุ้ง และปราสาทเมืองต่ำ เท่านั้น เนื้อหาแบ่งออกเป็น 5 บท บทที่ 1 เป็นบทนำกล่าวถึงความเป็นมาและความสำคัญของปัญหา บทที่ 2 ความเป็นมาและความหมายของลานหน้ากาล บทที่ 3 กล่าวถึงลายหน้ากาลที่พบในเอเชีย บทที่ 4 ลายหน้ากาลบนทับหลังในภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือของไทย และบทที่ 5 วิเคราะห์และสรุป ซึ่งจากการศึกษาลายหน้ากาลของไทยเปรียบเทียบกับลานหน้ากาลในศิลปะเขมรซึ่งคล้ายคลึงกันที่สุดนั้น พอจะสรุปได้ดังนี้ 1. ไม่สามารถใช้ลายหน้ากาลเพียงอย่างเดียวมากำหนดอายุสมัยของทับหลัง แบบเขมรที่พบในประเทศไทยได้ 2. ลายหน้ากาลของไทยไม่มีวิวัฒนาการที่แน่นอนหรือเป็นระเบียบแบบแผนตายตัวเหมือนลายหน้ากาลของเขมร 3. การลอกเลียนแบบลายหน้ากาลจากศิลปะเขมรเป็นเพียงการลอกเค้าโครงส่วนใหญ่เท่านั้น แต่ลวดลายละเอียดต่าง ๆ ช่างทำขึ้นอย่างเป็นอิสระและความแตกต่างในลักษณะของลายหน้ากาลของไทยขึ้นอยู่กับฝีมือช่างแต่ละท้องถิ่น

A study of “Kala” design on khmer lintels found in the Northeast of Thailand was chosen of which are on display in the 6th Branch National Museum at Phimai, of Prasat Hin Phimai, Prasat Khoa Phnom Rung and Prasat Muang Tam. The whole content of this thesis is divided into 5 chapters : chapter 1 deals with the introduction of the subject ; chapter 2 concerns the origin and the significance of the “Kala” design ; chapter 3 is about the “Kala” design found in Asia ; chapter 4 deals with the “Kala” design depicted on lintels discovered in the Northeast of Thailand and chapter 5 is the analysis and conclusion. The result of the study of “Kala” design found in the Northeast in comparison with that of khmer style is as follows : 1. We can not use the unique motif of “Kala” design to fix the style as well as the date of each khmer lintel found in Thailand. 2. The “Kala” design on the khmer lintels found in the present day Thailand has neither exact evolution nor the preside order like that on the khmer lintels discovered in the Republic Khmer. 3. The “Kala” design on the Khmer lintels found in Thailand imitated only the outline of that motif depicted on the Khmer lintels in the Republic Khmer but the details of each “Kala” design were executed independently. The difference of each “Kala” design on the khmer lintels in Thailand depends on the local craftmen of each locality.
