กรณีศึกษาวิจัยเกี่ยวกับสถาปัตยกรรมพื้นถิ่นในสำนึกไทย-มอญ ในความแปรเปลี่ยนของกาลเวลา ใช้กรอบแนวคิดของการศึกษาสถาปัตยกรรมพื้นถิ่น ที่มีความสัมพันธ์ กับชาติพันธ์ องค์ประกอบการตั้งถิ่นฐาน เส้นทางคมนาคม ภาพภูมิประเทศ สังคมวัฒนธรรมและการถ่ายทอดทางวัฒนธรรมต่างๆ มอญ คือไร มาจากไหน มีวิถีชีวิตและเอกลักษณ์ทางวัฒนธรรมอย่างไร ลักษณะเฉพาะของเรือนไทย-มอญ เป็นอย่างไร ปัจจัยที่น่าจะมีผลต่อการแปรเปลี่ยนของเรือน ไทย-มอญ คืออะไร และแนวโน้มของเรือนไทย-มอญ ในอนาคตเป็นอย่างไร
การจัดการพื้นที่ภายในชุมชนไทย-มอญ แสดงอย่างชัดเจนถึงโลกทัศน์ดั้งเดิม ในลักษณะความสัมพันธ์กันของวัฒนธรรมความเชื่อกับวิถีชีวิตของคนในชุมชน ซึ่งสะท้อนให้เห็นถึงการทับซ้อนของเวลาและการมีอยู่ของการจัดการพื้นที่ว่างในรูปแบบของมติทางวัฒนธรรม
จุดเด่นของเรือนไทย-มอญ มิได้อยู่เพียงรูปแบบที่มีเอกลักษณ์ตามแบบแผนของวัฒนธรรมมอญ เท่านั้น แต่อยู่แนวคิดในการสร้างเรือนซึ่งเป็นการสานต่อความรู้ในการปลุกสร้างเรือนและสร้างความผูกพันกับถิ่นฐานของตน แม้ปัจจุบันวัสดุใหม่ได้เข้ามามีบทบาทและแทนที่วัสดุพื้นถิ่นแต่ด้วยแนวคิดเกี่ยวกับการอนุรักษ์และกลับไปหาวัสดุดั้งเดิมที่ตนเคยใช้มาซ่อมแซมเรือนเท่านั้นยังคงมีให้เห็นอยู่
การศึกษารูปแบบเรือนและอิทธิพลที่คาดว่าจะเกี่ยวเนื่องกับเรือนและชุมชนไทย-มอญ เพื่อหาคำตอบของคำถามที่ว่าลักษณะเฉพาะของเรือนไทย-มอญ มอญเป็นอย่างไร มีอิทธิพลทางวัฒนธรรมไดที่น่าจะมีผลเกี่ยวเนื่องหรือไมอย่างไร ผลการวิจัยนี้จะเติมเต็มองค์ความรู้เกี่ยวกับมอญ ศึกษาและเป็นฐานรองรับการศึกษาวิจัยเกี่ยวกับชุมชนที่มีรากวัฒนธรรมร่วมกันในประเด็นและรายละเอียดอื่นต่อไป
A study of Tracing of Thai-Mon vernacular architecture, in the change of time, is con ducted under framework for studying and revealing the vernacular architecture’s concept from its origin besides studying from the vernacular house itself, this paper also suggests that the analysis of the human being races, factors of settlement, transportation’s line, landscape, society, culture and other transmitted beliefs and tradition should be concentrated and studied in details. In order to assure and check the hypothesis’s possibility, it proposes the whole aspects of the Thai-mon tribe: who are the Mon? Where did they come from? How is their ways of living and culture? What is the unique of Thai-Mon house? What factors effect to change of Thai-Mon house? And how is the trend of Thai-Mon house in the future.
Thai style of managing living space found in Thai-Mon community obviously reflects their tradition worldview, the relationship of belief culture and life way of man in the community, time arrangement is organized according to the cultural pattern beliefs.
The outstanding point of Thai-Mon house appears not only in the unique of Traditional Thai-Mon culture, but also the traditional concept of the house construction therefore the skills and knowledge of building Thai-Mon house is continuously transmitted from generation to generation together with the indoctrination of loving their own local area. Although nowadays the artificial materials have been substituted for the local materials, the traditional concept of letting each member of the family find the original materials to fix the house is eternally preserved.
The study of the house form and influences related with the community and vernacular house to explore what is the unique style of the Thai-Mon house, which cultural aspects have the influence on the Thai-Mon house and how does each cultural aspect have an influence on it the result of this study is offered in the hope that it may be of assistance to fulfill the knowledge base about Mon study and to be one of documents supporting other researches concerned wit6hn the other groups of local people who possess and share the same roots of culture with Thai-Mon
