Background and Objective: There are many pharmacy interventions for schizophrenic patients. This study aimed to systematically review the literatures and conduct a meta-analysis on the outcomes of pharmacist intervention in schizophrenia patients.

Methods: Research articles from international electronic databases (PubMed, Scopus, Cochrane CENTRAL, Science Direct, PSyINFO) and Thai electronic databases were searched and collected. The randomized controlled trials that investigated the outcomes of medication adherence, clinical outcomes and quality of life were selected. The analysis method depended on the heterogeneity. The random-effect model was used when the data was heterogeneity, whereas the fix-effect model was used when the data was not heterogeneity. The pool estimation was analyzed to report the standard mean difference (SMD) and benefit ratio, and the proportion of patients with improvement of outcome (as relative risk).

Results: There were nine studies with a total of 673 schizophrenia patients met the inclusion criteria. Results of meta-analysis showed that the pharmacist intervention statistically significant affected on the medication adherence. The mean score of medication adherence of patients in the pharmacist intervention group were more than the control group (SMD=0.60, 95% CI 0.41, 0.79) and the pooled relative risk for medication adherence was 1.13 (95% CI 1.07, 1.19).

Conclusion: pharmacist intervention improved the medical adherence of schizophrenic patients.

Community pharmacists must be prepared to provide herbal product advice to support an increasing demand for herbal products. This research was a cross-sectional survey aiming to identify factors that relate to which community pharmacists promote the appropriate use of herbal products. The survey was sampled by community pharmacists. Data were collected between October 2021 and December 2021 through a questionnaire sent out by mail. Descriptive statistics and Chi-square tests were used for data analysis. The subjects returned 419 questionnaires. Most respondents were female (68.3%), with a mean age of 39.74 + 9.70 years. Most respondents had achieved the highest level of education (52.0%), that is a Bachelor degree (5-year pharmacy program). Respondents had an average of 10.84 + 8.15 years of work experience in a drugstore. Most respondents (75.7%) had some experience using herbal products to treat illnesses. Statistically significant factors that related to which community pharmacists promoted the appropriate use herbal product were gender (p-value < 0.001); the experience of community pharmacists in herbal product use for treatment (p-value = 0.007); herbal product knowledge on indication and direction (p-value = 0.026); knowledge of contraindication of herbal products (p-value < 0.001); consumer retrieval of herbal products (p-value = 0.023); and hearing or seeing advertisements for herbal products by other community pharmacists (p-value = 0.011). Therefore, educating and and encouraging community pharmacists to use herbal products to take care of their own health has an effect on them in encouraging other people to use herbal products.

Methods:This cross-sectional analytical study used an online questionnaire to collect data from 1,020 undergraduate pharmacy students in the first to the sixth year of study. The questionnaire collected information on various factors including personal information, mental health status, support from family, peer, and academic advisor, faculty facilities, etc. Student engagement was measured using the University Student Engagement Inventory (USEI) questionnaire. Exploratory factor analysis was conducted to reduce the number of independent variables and reduce the problem from the relationship among independent variables. Multiple regression was used to determine the factors affecting student engagement. Results:There was a total of 312 respondents (30.59 percent). Overall average score of student engagement was 57.11 ± 5.66 out of the full score of 75. Six factors significantly affecting student engagement were scholarship ( P=0.014), curriculum, teacher and faculty reputation (P<0.001), , learning facilities (P<0.001), family supports (P<0.001), academic advisor supports (P<0.001), and peers supports (P=0.001). These factors explained 32.3 percent of the variance of student engagement. Conclusion:Factors affecting student engagement included personal factors, social factors and school factors. Educational institutions can use the findings on these factors to plan for increasing student engagement
