ร่างทรง : บทบาทที่มีต่อสังคมปัจจุบัน กรณีศึกษาที่อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดฉะเชิงเทรา

Abstract

วิทยานิพนธ์นี้ให้ความสนใจอย่างยิ่งกับบทบาทของร่างทรงที่มีต่อสังคมปัจจุบัน โดยวัตถุประสงค์ของการศึกษาวิจัยครั้งนี้ครอบคลุมตั้งแต่สภาพทั่วไปของสังคม การเข้าทรงและร่างทรง ขั้นตอน แบบแผนและพิธีกรรมของการเข้าทรง รวมตลอดไปถึงบทบาทของร่างทรงที่มีต่อสังคม ความเชื่อและทัศนคติของร่างทรงและประชาชนที่มีต่อการเข้าทรง ปัญหาและข้อจำกัดบางประการของการเป็นร่างทรง ตลอดจนชีวประวัติของร่างทรงบางรายที่น่าสนใจ ขอบเขตการศึกษาวิจัยครั้งนี้ เป็นกรณีศึกษาเฉพาะที่อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดฉะเชิงเทรา ข้อมูลส่วนใหญ่รวบรวมมาจากข้อมูลภาคสนาม คือจากการสัมภาษณ์ร่างทรงต่าง ๆ รวมทั้งประชาชนที่รู้เรื่องและสนใจการเข้าทรง นอกจากนี้ ยังมีการรวบรวมข้อมูลจากเอกสารหลักฐานต่าง ๆ ที่เกี่ยวข้อง และจากการสังเกตสภาพแวดล้อมต่าง ๆ ที่เกี่ยวข้องกับร่างทรงและการเข้าทรง โดยใช้ประสบการณ์ของผู้ศึกษาวิจัยในฐานะที่เป็นร่างทรงคนหนึ่งมาทำการตรวจสอบข้อมูลทั้งหมดที่ได้รับ ผลการศึกษาวิจัยปรากฏว่า สาเหตุสำคัญที่ทำให้ร่างทรงยังคงมีบทบาทอยู่ได้ในสังคมอย่างต่อเนื่องแม้ว่าสภาพแวดล้อมทั้งทางด้านเศรษฐกิจ และสังคมของสังคมนั้นได้เปลี่ยนแปลงอยู่ตลอดเวลาก็คือ การที่ประชาชนต้องแข่งขัน ดิ้นรนต่อสู้ในสังคมเพื่อยังชีพทำให้เดือดร้อนทั้งทางกาย และ/หรือใจ กอปรกบบุคคลหรือหน่วยงานที่มีหน้าที่ให้ความช่วยเหลือแก่ประชาชนโดยตรงมีจำนวนไม่มากเพียงพอ หรือที่มีอยู่ก็มิอาจช่วยเหลือได้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ ดังนั้น จึงทำให้ประชาชนต้องมาใช้บริการรูปแบบต่าง ๆ ของร่างทรงด้วยความสมัครใจ ในเวลาเดียวกัน ยังพบอีกว่า ในส่วนของร่างทรงเองก็ต้องมีบทบาทที่เอื้ออำนวยประโยชน์ให้แก่ปัจเจกชน และประชาชนส่วนรวมทั้งในด้านเศรษฐกิจ สังคม และการเมืองด้วย มิฉะนั้น ร่างทรงก็มิอาจดำรงอยู่ในสังคมได้เสมอมา อย่างไรก็ตาม ยังมีร่างทรงจำนวนไม่น้อยที่ใช้การเข้าทรงเพื่อหลอกลวงประชาชนทั่วไป ซึ่งพฤติกรรมเช่นนี้มีส่วนทำให้ประชาชนมองร่างทรงและการเข้าทรงในแง่ลบได้ ผลกระทบของการเข้าทรงที่มีต่อประชาชนในสังคมคือ มีการเพิ่มขึ้นของจำนวนประชาชนที่มาใช้บริการของร่างทรง โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่ง ประชาชนใช้ร่างทรงเป็นสิ่งยึดเหนี่ยวทางใจเพื่อช่วยให้เกิดความมั่นใจและความสบายใจในการประกอบอาชีพ หรือในการดำรงชีวิตอยู่ในสังคม ส่วนผลกระทบของการเข้าทรงที่มีต่อร่างทรงก็คือ ฐานะทางเศรษฐกิจของร่างทรงดีขึ้น ท้ายที่สุด ผลของการศึกษาวิจัยสามารถนำไปใช้ในการวางแผนพัฒนาสังคมที่มีลักษณะคล้ายคลึงกับสังคมของอำเภอเมือง จังหวัดฉะเชิงเทรา ได้ซึ่งอย่างน้อยที่สุดก็สามารถทำให้เข้าใจถึงสภาพสังคม ความเป็นอยู่ และความรู้สึกนึกคิดของประชาชนในสังคมดังกล่าวมากขึ้น

The study focuses on medium’s roles and functions in Thai society. Its objectives are to study on general environments of Amphoe Muang, Changwat Chachoengsao, pyschics and medium, processes patterns and rituals of medium. The objectives, in addition, include roles and functions of medium, beliefs and attitudes of mediums and inhabitants who understood and interested in psychics, problems and some limitations of medium, as well as life stories of some interesting mediums. The boundary of study is a case study of Amphoe Muang, Changwat Chachoengsao. Most data are collected from field research—interviews mediums as well as inhabitants who understood and interested in psychics. Some data also obtain from related documents and observations. Then, all obtained data are carefully checked by researcher’s experience as a medium. The study shows that the main cause contributes the medium to play continuous roles and functions in the society, although the economic and social environments of the society keep changing, is various struggles for existence in the society. The struggles make the inhabitants confront with physical and mental worries. Moreover, the amount of persons and organizations responsible for helping the worried inhabitants are insufficient or the existing are inefficient. The inhabitants therefore come voluntarily to use the medium’s variety of services. The further study appears that the medium must play useful roles and functions in economic, social, and political aspects for individual inhabitants and society as well, otherwise the medium could not exist long in the society. However, there is a number of mediums using psychics to deceive the inhabitants. This partly drives some inhabitants to fell pessimistically on the medium. The impact of psychics to the inhabitants is the increase number of inhabitants using medium’s services. Especially, the inhabitants hold the medium as their mental refuges and let the medium to create their confidence and happiness for careers and livings in the society. Whereas the impact of psychics to the medium is the increase of their economic status. Finally, the results of this study could be applied for development planning in the societies which are similar to Amphoe Muang, Changwat Chachoengsao. This apply, at least, could establish the understandings on situations of the societies including livings and beliefs of their inhabitants.
