การวิจัยครั้งนี้จัดทำเพื่อศึกษารูปแบบ คติการเขียน แรงบันดาลใจจากเครื่องถ้วยของจีนและการกำหนดอายุของภาพสัตว์และธรรมชาติภายในศาลาการเปรียญ วัดใหญ่สุวรรณาราม จ.เพชรบุรี ผลการศึกษาพบว่าภาพสัตว์และธรรมชาติถูกเขียนเนื่องในคติหิมพานต์โดยใช้ภาพสัตว์ที่มีอยู่จริงในธรรมชาติคล้ายการบันทึกธรรมชาติและมีอิทธิพลจีนปะปนในภาพสัตว์และฉากธรรมชาติที่น่าจะได้รับแรงบันดาลใจมาจากลวดลายบนเครื่องถ้วยของจีน อิทธิพลจีนจากเครื่องถ้วยที่ปรากฏในฉากหิมพานต์นี้คงเข้ามาพร้อมกับการค้าขายแลกเปลี่ยนระหว่างจีนกับไทยในสมัยอยุธยาตอนปลายเนื่องจากเครื่องถ้วยของจีนเป็นสินค้าที่ได้รับความนิยม
จากการศึกษาพบว่าฉากหิมพานต์ภายในศาลาการเปรียญมีแนวคิดการเขียนแบบสมจริง โดยใช้อิทธิพลจีนจากเครื่องถ้วยซึ่งเป็นอิทธิพลต่างประเทศเพื่อแสดงความเป็นหิมพานต์ ซึ่งต่อมาฉากหิมพานต์ในสมัยรัตนโกสินทร์อิทธิพลจีนได้ถูกลดความสำคัญลงและแทนที่ด้วยอิทธิพลจากตะวันตก ดังนั้น อาจเป็นไปได้ว่าฉากหิมพานต์ภายในศาลาการเปรียญน่าจะเขียนขึ้นในสมัยอยุธยาตอนปลายเนื่องจากมีเทคนิคการเขียนแบบอยุธยาตอนปลาย โดยอาจกำหนดอายุจิตรกรรมภายในศาลาการเปรียญจากรูปแบบวิทยาธรที่กำหนดอายุในช่วงรัชกาลพระนารายณ์ – พระเจ้าท้ายสระ เมื่อพิจารณาหลักฐานทางศิลปกรรมพบว่าศาลาการเปรียญสร้างขึ้นในสมัยอยุธยาตอนปลายโดยลวดลายที่หน้าบันและบานประตูที่กำหนดอายุในสมัยพระเจ้าเสือ ดังนั้น เมื่อพิจารณาจากหลักฐานแล้วอาจสันนิษฐานได้ว่าฉากหิมพานต์ภายในศาลาการเปรียญน่าจะกำหนดอายุได้ว่าไม่เก่าไปกว่าสมัยพระเจ้าเสือ
This research was conducted to studies the pattern, concepts in painting, the inspiration from the pattern of Chinese porcelain and setting age for animal and nature mural painting inside the Preaching Hall of Wat Yai Suwannaram, Phetchaburi. The research result animal and natural mural paintings was painted for Himmaphan principle by used animal images that exist in real nature that it has a similar realistic drawing, included it has Chinese influence mixed in animal images and natural scenery might be get the inspiration from the pattern of Chinese porcelain. The influence from Chinese porcelain that stated in Himmaphan scenery may have come up with the trade exchange between Thai-China at the end of Ayutthaya period because Chinese porcelain is popular product.
The research result found that the Himmaphan scenery inside the Preaching Hall are the realistic drawings from Chinese porcelain influence it’s the foreign influence to show what Himmaphan will be. In the next time Himmaphan scenery in Rattanakosin period, Chinese influences was became lower and it was replaced by Western influence, so maybe it drew in the end of Ayutthaya period because it has the end of Ayutthaya period technical paints. The internal mural paintings of the can set the age from Vidyadhara pattern that might be paint during Phra Narai – Phra Chao Thai Sa. The result from inspection in architecture found that the Preaching Hall of Wat Yai Suwannaram was built at the end of Ayutthaya period where found patterns on the gable and the door panel were set in Phra Chao Suea period. When we considered from architecture believed that Himmaphan mural painting inside the Preaching Hall of Wat Yai Suwannaram may setting age not older than Phra Chao Suea period.
