Abstract

ศิลปนิพนธ์ฉบับนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อวิเคราะห์และจาแนกประเภทสัญลักษณ์ และวิเคราะห์รูปแบบการสร้างภาพประกอบไพ่ชุดไรเดอร์เวทของพาเมลา โคลแมน สมิธ ในปี ค.ศ. 1909 ทั้งไพ่ชุดหลักและไพ่ชุดรองทั้งหมดจานวน 78 ใบ ด้วยวิธีการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ จากการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลจาก ไพ่ทาโรต์ชุดนี้ และเอกสารที่รวบรวมมาทั้งหมดสามารถสรุปได้ดังนี้ 1. สัญลักษณ์ในไพ่ทาโรต์ชุดไรเดอร์เวทมีสัญลักษณ์ทั้งหมดจานวน 85 สัญลักษณ์ จากทั้งหมด 3 ประเภท ซึ่งได้แก่ สัญลักษณ์จากรูปทรงธรรมชาติ สัญลักษณ์จากรูปทรงที่มนุษย์สร้างขึ้น และสัญลักษณ์จากรูปทรงทางคณิตศาสตร์ ไพ่ทาโรต์ชุดไรเดอร์เวทนี้นิยมใช้สัญลักษณ์จากรูปธรรมชาติ มักสื่อความหมายในแง่บวก และจัดวางสัญลักษณ์รองต่าง ๆ ไว้แทรกอยู่ในภาพ โดยคงรูปร่างลักษณะเดิมของสัญลักษณ์ไว้เป็นหลัก 2. ภาพประกอบไพ่ชุดไรเดอร์เวทถูกจัดสร้างไว้อย่างเป็นแบบแผน และเป็นเอกลักษณ์เฉพาะของศิลปิน ได้แก่ การระบุหมายเลขไว้ด้านบน และชื่อไพ่ทาโรต์ไว้ด้านล่างภาพ ประธานหลัก ของภาพจะมีขนาดใหญ่กินพื้นที่กึ่งกลางภาพ ภาพมีลักษณะแสดงออกเชิงลดทอนความเหมือนจริง ผ่านรูปทรงและสีที่เรียบง่าย นิยมใช้สีเหลืองเป็นหลัก และตัดเส้นสีดารอบนอก ทาให้ได้ภาพที่มีลักษณะ 2 มิติ คล้ายภาพการ์ตูน ภาพมีลักษณะเล่าเรื่องที่สะท้อนอารมณ์ความรู้สึกในเชิงบวก และสื่อความ หมายของไพ่ทาโรต์ได้ชัดเจน

This art thesis aims to analyze and categorize the illustrations of both the main deck and the sub-deck of the 78-card Rider-Waite tarot deck created in 1909 by Pamela Colman Smith with qualitative research. According to the data and the collected documents, it has lead to the conclusion that: 1. There are 85 symbols in the deck out of 3 categories of forms which are natural, manmade and mathematical. Natural forms are found mostly in the cards. Most symbols generally convey positive meanings and in their original shapes. Additionally, subordinate symbols are inset into the images. 2. The artist created the illustrations with a unique pattern. Numbers are on the top, while the names are on the bottom of the cards. The main subjects extend through the center of the cards. The illustrations have reducing realistic images with simplified forms, plain colors, which are generally in yellow, and black outlines. These result in the illustrations with having 2-dimensional images and resembling cartoons. The illustrations express positive emotion and convey the tarot cards’ meaning in obviously.
