The architectural heritage management for Wang Tha Phra and Wang Thanon Na Phra Lan : from the palaces of builders and craftsmen to the art and cultural centre

Abstract:
This research project aims at studying Wang Tha Phra and Wang Thanon Na Phra Lan: Wang Llang and Wang Tawan Oak which have connected areas and inter- related evolution Wang Tha Phra has been changed and adapted to be a part of Silpakorn University since 1964 while Wang Thaono Na Phra Lan: Wang (included wang Tawan Oak that later combined together) has been changed to be the Deepartment of Fine Arts (Krom Silpakorn ) since 1911. Both old palaces have similar contents of origination and of art relation
Scope of research will limit to only the buildings and context that related to the old palaces and to the contemporary art that initiate originated in these areas.
The study includes the origins, the changes, the style of architecture, values and significance, existing condition and usage of the old buildings in both areas, in order to gathering basic information to offer to the general readers and to those who are occupying and holding responsible for the places.
The method of research was based on historical documentary evidences and on other sources, as well as on the existing buildings and setting in the areas, and on interviews of other people connected Studies were also made from old as well as present photographas and maps Then by analyzing from all information a heritage management plan was made to purpose.
